THIS IS THE TOILET
Interesting example of where a small lack of communication with the architect can lead to "cultural" misunderstandings. Below are pictures of the new men's room on the 2nd floor. The tile manufacturer we chose had the added bonus of providing a number of tiles with "quirky" words on them. You could compose little phrases, etc., on the wall. But when acquiring the tiles, the architect discovered you could only buy the words in certain sets, and she decided to go for the simplest phrase (see bottom pic). Unfortunately, "This is the toilet" does not really translate well (in Italian-English the toilet represents the entire bathroom). And they wrote "This is the toilet" directly over the sinks. So as to avoid unnecessary confusion, we asked them to remove the phrase from above the sinks (if you think no one would ever mistake the sinks for a toilet, you'd be wrong). Otherwise I think the bathrooms are looking very nice.
